Progress Reports

Traffic Watch Group [TWG]

LR and PC informed the Group of the actual funds that had been raised for the purchase of a mobile speed monitor: 1307.48 had come from the Rural Community Council, 750 from the Parish Council, and 785 from other donations - a total of 2842.  There had also been some additional pledges.  The device would cost 1991 and a data logger to capture vehicle numbers and speeds would cost around 250.  The Parish Council had agreed to cover the insurances and 12 volunteers had agreed to operate the monitor.  Nine sites had been identified and the monitor would be used occasionally rather than continuously at each site.  Volunteers would be trained and given instructions on positioning, storage, and keeping records of its use.

L. also informed the group of an invitation she had received from police in the Road Safety Partnership to be one of the trial locations for the proposed speed guns [due to become operational after June].  L. also informed the group that she and County Councillor DS had presented the petition to the Highways Committee on 28 February.  It had been well received and members of the committee and other observers paid compliments to Liz.

Woodhouse Neighbourhood Watch [WNW]

The group had applied for grants to the Parish and Rural Community Councils to cover the cost of posters and leaflets.  Plans were afoot to create a junior version.

Parish Council

The Councillor surgeries were increasing in popularity.  The Parish Plan remains as a regular item on Council agendas.

Business Forum

There was nobody present who could report on this.

Village Design Statements

The formal consultation period closed today.  More would be known when Charnwood Officers contacted the two groups with the responses.  They were on target for adoption in May this year after Cabinet approval scheduled for 27 April.

Roundabout

Five volunteers had formed an editorial group to produce Roundabout.  Funding for the immediate future had now come from the Parish Council.  At their meeting on 3 April they resolved to donate up to 600 until a business plan could be developed to ensure financial viability.  Editorial control rests with the group but final copy before printing is to be cleared by the Chairman.

5. New initiatives

Energy

Suggestions were made for ways to progress this issue.  It had been a well-supported question on the Parish Plan survey with over 100 positive responses.
Action: KL & AI to form a steering group from respondents

Chinese Restaurant Site

No action yet.

Any Other Business

None.

Date of Next Meeting

Monday 18 September 2006 at 7.30 - Village Hall, Woodhouse Eaves
